The question is asking the sum of integers, whose product is -24.
Step 1: Factors of 24= 1*24, 2*12, 3*8, 4*6
Step 2: Since it is -24, one factor has to be negative. So subtract each: 24-1=23, 12-2=10, 8-3=5, 6-4=2.
Step 3: since any factor can be negative to give -24, the only matching answer is 23, which means the factors are -24*1

Mind you, since it is -24, both factors cannot be negative. So be careful of signs and read the question properly.

Thats a slick way of solving it krutika ..Kudos thanks for the explanation.
