The measures of two angles of a parallelogram differ by 52 degrees. The number of degrees in the smaller angle is

(A) 38
(B) 52
(C) 64
(D) 76
(E) 128

Kudos for the right answer and explanation

Opposites angle of a parallelogram is equal. And in the same side angles make 180 degrees total. So if you are getting two equations, one is for the addition of two angles = 180 and subtraction of two angles = 52. Now if you solve, you will get the smaller angle of 64 degrees.

Since we are concerned with a smaller angle, it would be fine to solve for it only.

Let x= smaller angle & (x + 52) = larger angle [because the question states that two angles differ by 52]

2x + 2(x + 52) = 360
2x + 2x + 104 = 360
4x + 104 = 360
4x = 256
x = 64
