The number 3 divides a with a result of b and a remainder of 2. So if we take 2 off a and divide by 3 the answer should be b.
\(\frac{a-2}{3}=b\) or \(a=3b+2\).
The number 3 divides b with a result of 2 and a remainder of 1. Similarly
\(\frac{b-1}{3}=2\) or \(a=6+1=7\).
Hence putting value of b into the first equation a=23.
\(\frac{a-2}{3}=b\) or \(a=3b+2\).

Theory: Dividend = Divisor*Quotient + Remainder
a -> Dividend
3 -> Divisor
b -> Quotient
2 -> Remainders
=> a = 3*b + 2 = 3b + 2
The number 3 divides b with a result of 2 and a remainder of 1
b = 3*2 + 1 = 6 + 1 = 7
=> a = 3b + 2 = 3*7 + 2 = 21 + 2 = 23
So, Answer will be D
