The guy that wrote this question wrote z instead of 2 !!

we should have functions

y=|x|-2
y=2-|x|

From the diagram we can see that the area enclosed by both absolute value functions
is a square with sides 2*(2^.5)

Area= (2(2^.5))^2 = 4*2= 8

Final Answer= C
