Here,
The increase in the number of students enrolled from from 1960 to 1970 = 1600 - 1490 = 110
and the increase in the number of students enrolled from 1950 to 1960 = \(\frac{110}{2} = 55\) ( as the increase was half compared to the increase of students from 1960 - 1970)
In the year 1960, total students = 1490
and there has been an increase of 55 students from 1950 to 1960
Therefore, no. of students in the year 1950 = 1490 - 55 = 1435
