Re: First diagnostic test from Kaplan - 322. Next steps? [#permalink]
Hi Carcass, rx10,

I just took a GRE powerprep practice test (n°1).

Apart from the missing experimental or research section (which was missing), is the GRE powerprep an accurate reflection of the real GRE test? Can you confirm that it is adaptive?

I scored:
- Verbal: 160
1st section: 14 corrects, 6 incorrects
2nd section: 16 corrects, 4 incorrects
Do you believe I got still a medium or a hard 2nd section? (with 6 incorrects in the 1st section)
The threshold might be around 6/7 incorrects for medium / hard... so not sure

- Quant: 162
1st section: 17 corrects, 3 incorrects
2nd section: 17 corrects, 3 incorrects
Here no doubt, it was a hard section with 3 incorrects in the 1st section
Unfortunately, I did 2 careless mistakes in my quant 2nd section... but better to do it now rather than in the real GRE at home

Thanks for your help!

Hey,

322 is a nice score. Especially 160 Verbal.

But as Carcass said, Free PPP 1 & 2 are definitely easier than the real GRE. It is said that the paid ones are really good and closely related to the actual one.

When you score 13/14+ in the first verbal, your next section will be hard. See the link Carcass has provided. You will understand the scoring better.

All the best!

Especially the Pp PLus the third is 99% the same. it is the closest to the real test.

The real issue is that people think the following: PP PLUS 165 and I will get 165, regardless quant or verbal THIS IS WRONG

During the exam, a lot of variables come into the picture. Most of them you could control such as anxiety others do not such as tiredness and you flip out 6 for 9, for example and you will have a silly mistake
