Hi,
I took my GRE at home this afternoon and, unfortunately, I scored a 317 (Q161, V156)... I am targeting a 326. I am planning to retake the GRE at home in 21 days, so January 3rd 2022.
Any advice regarding my study plan for the next 21 days?
Below are my mock scores:
Kaplan (free) / 09-nov-21 / Q164 V158 / 322
GREPrep 1 (free) / 28-nov-21 / Q162 V160 / 322
GREPrep 2 (free) / 04-déc-21 / Q161 V160 / 321
MGRE (free) / 07-déc-21 / Q163 V154 / 317
GREPrep (paid n°3) / 10-déc-21 / Q162 V158 / 320
Verbal side: I need to work on my vocabulary, especially for TC. This is where I make a lot of mistakes (sometimes silly sometimes logic/understanding, or not seeing the clues). For RC, I think I am fine.
Quant side: I always made some silly or careless mistakes so I thought I was quite fine. For each mock exam, I had 1 or 2 questions that I answered incorrectly due to application of concepts. I worked on them. Therefore, I felt I was fine for the quant part. That being said, I (only) scored a 161 today... thus, I need to improve something there also...
GRE at home experience:
Regarding the GRE at home experience itself, it started very well, the proctor was very nice. She allowed me to use earplugs.
Then 3 questions before the end of my quant 1 (I got verbal / quant / verbal / quant / verbal), the ETS software froze... another proctor had to relog me in one time... I answered 1 question. Then, I clicked "next", again it froze. Then, she asked me to reboot my laptop. Then, got relogged. Then, answered another question. Only 1 left before my break... but the software froze again. Relogged again. Finally, could answer the last quant question and went for the 10 min break.
When I started the verbal 2, a new proctor told me I could not use my earplugs. So I didn't. In the middle of verbal 2, I faced similar technical issue. The system froze and the proctor had to log me in again. After, no technical bug until the end of the exam.
So I finished the exam almost 5 hours after I started it due to those technical bugs. I hope the verbal 3 was the experimental one. Honestly, I had almost no energy left 10 min before the end of my verbal 3. Very hard to focus on the last RC questions.
Anyway... I will retake the test one more time (and for the last time) next Jan 3rd (as round 2 deadline for MBA are Jan 4th/5th).
Also, at the end of the test, I could "report my scores" or "cancel my scores". I clicked "report my scores". However, I never got the opportunity to select the schools I wanted to send my score to. Isn't it that strange? I thought I was supposed to enter the school codes or select some schools... Anyway, I didn't really care or pay attention because I was not happy with this score in any case. Not sure about the reporting process... (with GMAT, you select the programs before starting the test... here I could not do it, strange no?)
Thanks in advance for your advice regarding my study plan!
