Blank (i) Blank (ii) Blank (iii)
A. unresolved D. position G. ephemeral
B. lucid E. proportions H. exceptional
C. incontrovertible F. placement I. average

Hi!

To solve this, I started witht he first blank then third and then to the second one.

So the clue for the first blank is "much debated and still", so if a topic is much debated, that means it is still unresolved. Moving to the next part, the author says that psychometric research suggests that what constitutes facial beauty depends on something, rather(I see a contrast here) that on something else i.e beauty of each individual feature

So we need a pair which are opposite. Only exceptional and proportional matches.

IMO A, E &H

Hope this helps!

If you read the sentence without looking at the answers then the first blank is easy to guess. If is debated then it is still unresolved. Now for the second blank I think two option choices are the same position and placement so the inclination is towards proportions but let us see the third blank. The third blank has exceptional and average but if it is talking about individual features then it should be exceptional as alone to be called as a beauty.

The word still indicates that the first answer had to be "unresolved". The second and the third option are opposites, so "proportions" and "exceptional" makes the best match.
