We can solve this question using matching operations
Given:
Quantity A: \(x^2y^2\)
Quantity B: \((xy)^3\)
Simplify Quantity B to get:
Quantity A: \(x^2y^2\)
Quantity B: \(x^3y^3\)
Since \(x^2\) must be POSITIVE, we can safely divide both quantities by \(x^2\) to get:
Quantity A: \(y^2\)
Quantity B: \(xy^3\)
Likewise, since \(y^2\) must be POSITIVE, we can safely divide both quantities by \(y^2\) to get:
Quantity A: \(1\)
Quantity B: \(xy\)
Since we are told that \(x<0<y\), we know that the product \(xy\) is SOME NEGATIVE NUMBER. So, we get:
Quantity A: \(1\)
Quantity B: SOME NEGATIVE NUMBER
