Lets take cases
Case 1: Let's take both as positive numbers
Let x = 5 and y =2
Quantity A: |x + y| = | 5 + 2 | = |7 | = 7
Quantity B: |x - y| = | 5 - 2 | = |3 | = 3
=> Quantity A > Quantity B
Case 2: x positive and y negative
Let x= 2, y = -5
Quantity A: |x + y| = | 2 + (-5) | = |-3| = 3
Quantity B: |x - y| = | 2 - (-5) | = |2 + 5 | = |7| = 7
=> Quantity B > Quantity A
=> We need to know the values of x and y to answer the question.
So, Answer will be D
