When I see the two quantities, I immediately see that they will be EQUAL when x = 1.
So, I already know that the correct answer must be either C or D.
Let's test another x-value.
When x = 1.5, I see that the two quantities are NOT EQUAL
There's no need to determine which quantity is bigger, since the correct answer must be D

if x = 1 answer is C
if x = 1.5 answer is B
2 different answers mean option D
