Given:
1,200x + 6,000 = 13,200
12y + 60 = 132
Notice that, if we take the top equation and divide both sides by 100, we get the EQUIVALENT equation: 12x + 60 = 132
So, our two equations are now:
12x + 60 = 132
12y + 60 = 132
Since both equations are set equal to 132, we can conclude that: 12x + 60 = 12y + 60
Subtract 60 from both sides to get: 12x = 12y
Divide both sides by 12 to get: x = y
Answer: C
