Notice that both quantities are expressed as a difference of squares, which means we can factor them.
QUANTITY A: \((1111.0)^2 – (999.0)^2 = (1111 + 999)(1111 - 999) = (2110)(112)\)
QUANTITY B: \((1111.5)^2 – (999.5)^2 = (1111.5 + 999.5)(1111.5 - 999.5) = (2111)(112)\)
At this point, we can see that Quantity B is greater
Answer: B

Not sure if this is right, but we may use a small-scale experiment:
QA: 11^2 - 9^2 = 121 - 81 = 40
QB: 11.5^2 - 9.5^2 = 132.25 - 90.25 = 42
B > A
QA: 11^2 - 9^2 = 121 - 81 = 40
QB: 11.5^2 - 9.5^2 = 132.25 - 90.25 = 42
