Let's take the given inequality (–1 < x ≤ 2) and transform it so that we have "2 – 3x" as part of the inequality.
Take: –1 < x ≤ 2 Multiply all parts of the inequality by -3 to get: 3 > -3x ≥ -6 [since we multiplied all sides by a NEGATIVE value, we REVERSED the direction of the inequality symbols (see video below for more details)] Add 2 to all parts of the inequality to get: 5 > -3x + 2 ≥ -4 Rewrite the middle part as follows: 5 > 2 - 3x ≥ -4
Here, we can see that 2 - 3x < 5
Answer: B
