sorry. a typo. when a quantity is increased by 250% actually it is multiplied by 3.5

\(2.5 x \times 3.5 =350\)

This is a basic yet fundamental % rule.

If x is increased by 50% you multiply directly x * 1.5 = 100 + 50. Increased by 250 = 100+250= 3.5 and so forth.

On the flip side if x is decreased by 40% you multiply x * 0.6 (100-40).

Hope this helps

250% OF x is = (\(\frac{250}{100}\)) * x = 2.5x

n INCREASED BY 250% means

n + (250% of n) = n + (\(\frac{250}{100}\))n = n + 2.5n = 3.5n

Therefore, [250% OF x ] INCREASED BY 250% is = (2.5x) * 3.5

Increase a number by 250%, you are adding 100% to 250% for a total of 350%. Therefore, multiply by 3.5
(NOT 2.5).
2.5x(3.5) = 350
8.75x = 350
x = 40
