3x + 4y = 8 -- Equation 1
2x + 5y = 9 -- Equation 2
Subtract equation 2 from equation 1 to get:
x - y = -1
x = y-1
Therefore, x will always be 1 lesser than y. As such, quantity B is greater than quantity A, hence option B will be the answer.

Given:
Quantity A: x
Quantity B: y
Subtract y from both quantities to get:
Quantity A: x - y
Quantity B: 0
Q: Why did I do this?
A: I noticed that the two given equations will allow us to quickly find the value of x - y.
Take:
\(3x+4y=8\)
\(2x+5y=9\)
Subtract at the bottom equation from the top equation to get: x - y = -1
So we get:
Quantity A: -1
Quantity B: 0
Answer: B
