Let x = the total number of students in the chemistry class.
If 70% passed, then 0.7x = the number of students who passed.
If 70% passed, then 30% failed, which means 0.3x = the number of students who failed.
So, the ratio of those who failed to those who passed = 0.3x/0.7x = 0.3/0.7 = 3/7
We get:
Quantity A: 3/7
Quantity B: 3/5
