We can quickly solve this question using matching operations (see the video lesson below )
Given:
Quantity A: 2a²
Quantity B: a³
Since we can be certain that a² is positive, we can safely divide both quantities by a² to get:
Quantity A: 2
Quantity B: a
Since we're told a is negative, it's clear that Quantity A is greater.
Answer: A

Solve instantly by noting that a negative squared always becomes positive, while a negative cubed always remains negative. Thus, A must be greater.
