How can we be sure lines are vertically opposite?

On the GRE, any lines that appear to be straight are straight.

Think about 2 lines (NOT lines) only intersecting each other. It is easy to find opposite angles.

First two lines when A & D angles have been created. now you can realize a & d are opposite angles and equal.

The same applies to the other two angles.
