KarunMendiratta please correct me --

# of units of the duration of one stroke = a
# of units of time between 2 strokes = a (since the stem says that these 2 are equal)

So, Qty A = 12 * a * a
Now, a = 1 sec, or 2 secs or more
If a = 1, A = 12 and if a = 2, A = 48.

Answer is D.
