It is given that a certain experiment has three mutually exclusive possible outcomes where, ๐ (First outcome) = x+1/5 and ๐ (second outcome) = 3/10-x
Let, ๐ (third outcome) = ๐(๐ถ)
We need to find the probability of the third outcome. Since it is given that the event has only three possible outcomes that means events are mutually exclusive, hence ๐(๐ด) + ๐(๐ต) + ๐(๐ถ) = 1, where ๐(๐ด),๐(๐ต) and ๐(๐ถ) are the probabilities of the three events.
As, ๐(๐ด) = ๐ฅ +1/5, ๐(๐ต) =3/10โ ๐ฅ
Hence, using ๐(๐ด) + ๐(๐ต) + ๐(๐ถ) = 1
๐๐, ๐ฅ +1/5+3/10 โ ๐ฅ + ๐(๐ถ) = 1
๐๐, ๐(๐ถ) = 1 โ1/5โ3/10
๐๐, ๐(๐ถ) = 1 โ1/2=1/2
๐๐, ๐(๐ถ) =1/2
