Re: A certain recipe requires 3 tablespoons of oil and makes 3 d [#permalink]
3 tablespoons of Oil : 3 dozen brownies

= 3 tablespoon of oil : 36 brownies

A ratio remains the same if we multiply each side by the same scalar.

Let's multiply both sides by (15/36)

= 3(15/36) tablespoons of oil : 36(15/36) brownies

= 15/12 tablespoons of oil : 15 brownies

= 1.25 tablespoons of oil : 15 brownies

Therefore we need 1.25 tablespoons of oil to make 15 brownies

1.25< 1.5

Re: A certain recipe requires 3 tablespoons of oil and makes 3 d [#permalink]
Oil and Brownie are Directly Proportional (more brownies require more oil)
In Direct Proportion, Ratio is constant.

i.e. 3/36 = O/15
O = 45/36 = 5/4 = 1.25

Since, A < B

Hence, option B
