Often, we can find a shortcut that enables us to answer a GRE quant question without doing much math.

In this case, the question tells us that the highest price that a pair of pants sells for is $80, and that the highest price that a skirt sells for is $100.

So, the shortcut here is to notice that even if all the skirts sell for the highest possible price, $100, if there is even one pair of pants in stock, the average price of the items in stock will be under $100. After all, the only way the average price can be greater than or equal $100 is for ALL the items to be priced at or above $100.

So, since the question says that there are 1250 pairs of pants in stock, the average is for sure under $100.

Thus, the correct answer must be (B).
