It seems a bit ambiguous, could you explain why the context should indicate inexperience ?
It could also indicate that the field trip was arranged so that this troupe of dancer (who are seasoned and expert) could observe the real masters of their art (to learn more, what they are lacking etc.)

Who observes is not a master, this implies that they are a novice.

The last part so that they can observe real master of their art --> They still do not know the real master.
Looking at the options we saw Fledgling = beginner, it fits.
Checking for the other synonyms yes we have novice.

Hence, BE is the Answer.

A field trip would arranged for the troupe to observe the real masters of their art, only if the troupe consisted of people who were not masters of their art.

Fledgling and novice are the correct choices.
