\(l = 40, b = 24, h = 12\)
Lateral Surface area of Auditorium(which is a cuboid) = \(2(lb + bh) = 2(40*12 + 24*12) = \textbf{1560}\) square feet
1 gallon of paint can cover 200 square feet, then to cover 1560 square feet of wall, we need \(\frac{1560}{200} = 7.8 ≈ \textbf{8}\) gallons of paint.
Hence, Answer is B
Note: There is a bit ambiguity in the problem statement, since the question doesn't mention inner or outer side of wall which is something usually mentioned in such type of question.

Here's an idea of what the auditorium looks like:
So the total surface area to be painted = (12)(25) + (12)(25) + (12)(40) + (12)(40)
= 300 + 300 + 480 + 480
= 1560 square feet
Given: 1 gallon of paint covers 200 square feet
1560/200 = 7.something
So, 7.something gallons of paint are needed.
This means we must purchase 8 gallons of paint
Answer: B
