By question,
let us assume the length of the smallest piece is x then,
the largest piece would be 3x and the piece of string with the medium length will be somewhere between x and 3x. Let us assume that the length of medium piece is y.
By this we can make a eqn.
x+3x + y = 35.
or, 4x + y = 35.
We don't know the length of the medium piece of string but we have qty B as 15 let us see what will happen if the length of y = 15.
our eqn = 4x + y = 35
or, 4x + 15 = 35
or, 4x = 20
or, x = 5.
Therefore 3x = 15.
5+15+15 = 35 we get the exact length of 35 as required but we have largest piece of string with length 15 and medium piece of string with length 15 which is not possible therefore the medium piece of string must have a length less than 15.

----------CHECK EQUALITY----------
Let say three lengths are small + medium + long = 35
So, if medium = 15
small + long = 20
and long = 3 x small (given)
so, 4 x small = 20
i.e. small = 5
so, long = 15
the 3 values satisfies the question....and there are no other values because of linearity of the problem, so answer is C
