Let the weight of the stone be x then,
The value of original stone would be \(x^2\)
However the stone broke into three equal pieces each piece weighing \(\frac{x}{3}\)
The value of each piece of broken stone would be \(\frac{x^2}{9}\)
There are 3 of these so there combine value would be \(\frac{3x^2}{9}\) which is \(\frac{x^2}{3}\)
Hence the value of original stone at one piece would have a higher value.
