Admissionado Quick Q & A: Advice on school selection

Quick Question: I need advice on school selection.
Quick Answer: The right school fit for you is going to depend on a few factors. First, where are you competitive? You want to attend the highest ranked school you can get into since that helps your job prospects (recruiters prefer higher ranked schools) and also tends to give you access to a more prestigious alumni network. To determine your competitiveness at a school, take a look at the class profile. You want to be sure you've at least hit & ideally exceeded their stats when it comes to undergrad GPA, GMAT/GRE, etc. Second, you want to choose a school that’s going to best prepare you for your post-graduate goals. Take a look at the course catalog & the backgrounds of the professors. Are there elective courses you can’t find anywhere else that are the perfect fit for the skill gaps you need to achieve in order to fulfill your goals? Are there professors who specialize in something uniquely related to your goals? Finally, you want to consider the career placement services & alumni network. When you look at the school’s employment stats do you see alumni working at the companies (and locations) where you want to work? Are your target companies actively recruiting on campus? The whole point of this degree is to land your dream job, and you want to make sure the stats suggest that that’s going to happen once you graduate! The best fit for you will also depend on your current profile, so a quick consultation or discovery chat with a consultant can help you narrow your choices.
