"start-up had the potential for long-term (i) _______ and thriving business "
The conjunction "and" indicates that the word for the blank must be related to and go well with "thriving". Only viability makes sense. A start-up can have the potential for long-term viability and thriving business.
It does not make sense to say that it has long-term fecklessness as it means worthlessness due being ineffectual. It is the opposite of thriving. So we reject it.
The word temerity means confidence and audaciousness and it does not make perfect sense there.
The clue for the second blank is given by the phrase
"which favored extremely detailed statistics that non-industry audiences had trouble following."
Clearly the word is convoluted.
The choice querulous means complaining in a rather petulant or whining manner and has nothing to do with the clue phrase given above.
The choice disparate means essentially different in kind and does not describe the clue phrase given above.
