male 1 female 2=total3
so 1 way for male 1c1 and 5c2 for female
5c2*1c1=10

Out of 3 people to be selected , one of them is a male employee.

The number of ways to select male employee = 1

The 2 other members of committee can only be selected from 5 female employees.

Number of ways of selecting 2 other members among 5 female employees = 5C2 = \(\frac{5!}{3!2!}*1 = 10\)

Total number of ways = ways of selecting 2 female members * ways of selecting 1 male member = 10 * 1 =10

A) 10
B) 12
C) 15
D) 24
E) 30

In order to ensure that the 3-person committee includes the male employee, we'll start by placing the male employee on the committee.
Our task now is to choose 2 more people (from the 5 female employees) to join the male on the committee.

Since the order in which we select the two people does not matter, we can use combinations.
We can select 2 employees from 5 employees in 5C2 ways (= 10 ways)

Answer: A
