I have taken 7 mins and got all these questions correct. But I think I should have taken less time for this question.

P1/MI - Evaluate Angel DeCora's art as a native American artist.

1. It can be inferred that Hutchinson would be most likely to agree with which of the following statements about Native American art?
Quote:
The answer is pretty straightforward for this question only asks to infer a point with which Hutchinson will agree.

and she used European elements such as vanishing-point perspective to depict Native American subjects Hutchinson argues that this should not preclude DeCora`s work from being considered Native American art.
Quote:
DeCora uses European elements to portray Native American Subjects. HT argues - this should not be a hinder to consider DeCora's work as a native American art. So, HT will take DeCora's work as Native American work even she added new elements

A. It is unlikely to develop further in the direction charted by Angel DeCora. => Nothing said in the passage about the further development of DeCora's work
B. It has been misrepresented by art historians who apply European criteria to art that was not intended to reflect European aesthetic values. => True but not answer the question
C. It is most authentic when it uses traditional Native American methods to describe traditional Native American subject matter. => True from early historians point of view but not answer the question.
D. It has traditionally used European elements in ways that differ from the use that European American artists make of those elements. => Not specified in the passage
E. It can adopt new elements in response to changing cultural conditions and still remain Native American art. => yes, HT will agree to take it is NAA even if new elements were added to NAA

2. The passage let which of the following about the " early historians of Native American art " mentioned in the passage? => remember answers of this type of questions will be related to the author's main focus.
Quote:
---is rarely discussed by early historians of Native American art. These historians valued what they considered authenticity, defined as an absence of modern and European influences. => means historians will consider a work authentic if it doesn't contain any modern or European elements

A. Their views of Native American art were strongly influenced by Native Americans` criteria for determining whether art authentically represented their cultures. => Seems true but they don't determine whether art represented their cultures authentically rather they consider those art authentic if it is free from European elements --- these two are different.
B. Their criteria for judging the authenticity of Native American art gave primacy to subject matter over technique. => we cannot infer they gave primacy to subject matter over technique - those European elements may include technique. Again, this is not an inference question.
C. They included in histories of Native American art only works created prior to the period of Native Americans` contact with Europeans. => nothing specified in passage
D. They would regard the use of vanishing-point perspective as an inauthentic element in a painting by a Native American artist. => This point towards the main focus of the author and we can say, historians vanishing-point as inauthentic as they consider art free from European elements as authentic.
E. They were probably familiar with Angel DeCora`s art but unaware that she was Native American. => incorrect
