Quantity A
The difference between Bob and Ann’s salaries before these changes were made
So, we need to find out original salaries of Bob and Ann
Ann earned a 25% raise to bring her salary to $20,000
Let Original salary of Ann is A, so her salary after 25% raise will be
A + A*25% = A(1+25%) = A(1 + 0.25) = 1.25A = $20,000
=> A = \(\frac{$20,000}{1.25}\)
=> A = $16,000
Bob received a 20% decrease in salary to bring his salary to $20,000
Let Original Salary of Bob is B, so his salary after 20% decrease will be
B - B*20% = B(1 - 20%) = B(1 - 0.2) = 0.8B = $20000
=> B = \(\frac{$20,000}{0.8}\) = 25,000
Ann earned a 25% raise to bring her salary to $20,000.
Bob received a 20% decrease in salary to bring his salary to $20,000.
=> The difference between Bob and Ann’s salaries before these changes were made = B - A = $25000 - $16000 = $9000
=> Quantity A = Quantity B = $9000
So, answer will be C
Hope it helps!
