The sentence means than anthropology was more than ¨...¨ for Zora (who studies with an important anthropologist), so if for Zora anthropology is important, this means that is more than an "hobb", so we need a word related with hobby. Obsession, fascination and career are eliminated. The options are recreation (which is obviously one answer) and avocation and encumbrance (I am not sure about what mean theses) but I know that encumbrance is relate with an impediment so the answer should be Recreation and Avocation. Certainly, avocation means a "hobby or minor occupation".
