Hi there!
The clue for the first blank is
McLaughlin unfortunately overlooks earlier sources of influence__ and thus there is a relative impact. So, if we overlook something the relative impact decrease or is hindered, obscuring is the correct fit.
For the second blank, the author says however McLaughlin is something and then supports McLaughlin's view. Thus, for the second blank correct is the correct answer option. As other answer choices are out of context.
For the third blank we need opposite of ongoing i.e. something like not ongoing or static. Option G is the correct choice.
IMO A, F, G
