The first thing you should notice is the structural road sign “regardless,” which functions as a detour road sign. Therefore, the clause after the semicolon will depart from the meaning of the first clause. You’re told in the first clause that Cora is “not known for her reticence,” so the second will indicate hesitance or reluctance. The blank will be an adverb that describes “acquiesced,” which means to “give in” or “relent.” Since you’re looking for a word that shows Cora being uncharacteristically reticent, a good prediction is reluctantly. Evaluating the answer choices, you can immediately reject (A) jejunely, “childishly,” which doesn’t make sense, and (B) exuberantly, “gleefully,” which implies Cora was anything but reluctant to speak at the conference. You can eliminate (C) willfully, since it implies that she was headstrong, which does not harmonize with reluctantly. Choice (E) candidly, “openly,” doesn’t have a meaning close to reluctantly. That leaves (D) grudgingly, meaning “resentfully unwilling,” and (F) timidly, which means “in an easily frightened way.” These two are the best matches.

The answers are D and F .
However, not a good question: they must be two words alike in meaning but D basically means lack of desire to talk. Timid, a person, is another thing. I ti si when you are shy but that does not mean you lack of desire.
Also, you will never cope to such words on the GRE and the stem is not the top.

Ya! I am just posting these questions for people who want to have some additional practice. Thanks for you suggestions- We all know, nothing is comparable to GRE official materials.

Thank you sir.
I totally agree and strongly encourage the students to post questions on the board for practice.
This, however, would be helpful mainly because we can spot which is a good question for practice and which not. Practicing with bad questions not only is a waste of time but also put you in the wrong direction.
Actually you learn nothing and in the worst-case scenario, you learn things that jeopardize your preparation instead to help you

Thank you for your clarification then . I will refrain myself from posting such non-standard question. But please help me to segregate the good ones from the bad ones, so that I do not confound them .
At this point you could wonder why on the board we do post also these questions: well, to help the students to improve their stamina.
But you do have all the necessary official material and much more than that. which is impossible to find on any other website, clusterized and explained.
