Even Gremat video solution couldn't satiate me with transitional. I still kinda feel that the answer be simultaenous. :/

You do have an interplay, a ping pong between to status extreme or whatever it is.

CANNOT be A for logic

Sorry Sir, but if you do not have the flexibility you will get in trouble!!

Current data suggest that, although (i) _______ states between fear and aggression exist, fear and aggression are as distinct physiologically as they are psychologically.

We know that fear and aggression are distinct states.

The "although" makes us look for the opposite of distinct states. We have three options - simultaneous , partial and transitional. Each of these words describes a state, but we need to pick the one that would suggest the state involves overlaps of fear and aggression, making them non-distinct.

A simultaneous state does not indicate that the state involves the two emotions of fear and aggression existing non-distinctly. What is a simultaneous state? It is not clear. Similarly, a partial state gives us no information about how the two emotions exist in that state. But a transitional state between fear and aggression would certainly have both fear and aggression in a spectrum, one gradually leading to another. Therefore, it is the best choice.
