Does school location matter for employment?

Quick Question: Is the location of my school important for employment?
Quick Answer: The location of the school matters to some extent, but mostly because it can influence where alumni tend to be located. Many Columbia alumni tend to stay in NYC, for example. That said, top schools tend to have alumni located in all of the major cities in the US. These are both great schools with strong brand names so you really can’t go wrong. I’d check out employment stats for each school (the adcom can provide them to you) to gauge whether or not your target companies tend to hire graduates. You can get access to alumni data as well to get a sense for where the alumni network tends to be located & where they work, which will also be important information in making a decision.
