Hi cookieb26.
One strategy that helps many people get through long RC passages faster is reading for understanding while not fully processing every detail. In other words, as you read a passage, you note which sentences state important points and which sentences merely mention less important details, and you pay attention the the main points while going through the sentences about details quickly without taking the time to fully process the details. Rather, you note where in the passage the details lie so that you can come back to them again if necessary.
By reading in that way, you can get through a passage faster than you would of you were to fully process every detail, and at the same time, you still understand what the passage as a whole says.
Then, if you need detail-related information to answer a question, you can go back to the passage and find it.
