OA Explanation.

Imperialism resulted in ethnic groups that were once unacquainted with each other now living in the same nation. The correct answer will reflect the first part of the story – that these nations were not in close contact. Choice(B)-parochial (meaning narrow-minded and restricted to new ideas) and Choice(E)-illiberal (meaning close-minded and intolerant ) both mean restricted, but they are incorrect because they refer to the restriction of opinions rather than of any physical space. Choice (C)-sectarian (meaning a subgroup of a larger group) and Choice(F)-catholic (meaning including a wide variety of things or all-embracing) are the opposite of the idea or groups not in close contact. The correct answers are Choice(A)-sequestered (meaning secluded from others) and Choice(C)-insular (meaning isolated).

Per se, the OAs make sense. However, sequestered actually means kidnapped.

I do not think it is a perfect fit for the question, akin to insular. Moreover, insular derives from "island" to depict the Islanders. People who live on an island actually are called insular because they tend to stay isolated.

More than insular they, in the new country, were an enclave.

Insular means isolated.

Parochial means basically church

They have nothing in common
