Re: For which of the following lists of 5 numbers is the median [#permalink]

Only for A and B the median > the mode

The median is the middle value, so first I'll have to rewrite the list in numerical order

The mode is the number that is repeated more often than any other

In A and D 3 (median of the number series),> the number repeated = 2

More on this in our quant book https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/gre-quant ... tml#p53777

The question itself is not worded wrongly

My point is: what does median (arithmetic mean) mean? I don't understand why do you put (arithmetic mean) here.

My mistake. The user above is right. Totally. My excuses

The question reads "For which of the following lists of 5 numbers is the MEDIAN (arithmetic mean) greater than the mode?"
This is incorrect.
I think the author meant to write: "For which of the following lists of 5 numbers is the AVERAGE (arithmetic mean) greater than the mode?
If you change MEDIAN to AVERAGE, then the correct answer will be A & D

As well as C

Avg=(1+3+3+4+5)/5=16/5=3.2
Thus Avg(3.2)> Mode(3)
