Plug-in numbers from the answer choices:
A: x = -3
8 + (-3-3)2 = 8 + (-6)(2) = 8 - 12 = -4
B: x = 0
8 + (0-3)2 = 8 + (-3)(2) = 8 - 6 = 2
C: x = 3
x + (3-3)2 = 8 + (0)(2) = 8 + 0 = 8
We don't need to plug in any more values; the answer choices get progressively larger the greater the x becomes. Answer choice A must be the least value.
