Re: GRE Reschedule 4 days before Retake of GRE [#permalink]
And to add to that, I feel that I am motivated to take the shorter preparation since I am finished with the theory and the majority of exercises on the tests are manageable for me. The powerprep tests speak against my motivation..

I think I need to separate motivation and eagerness from the reality of things. Because the GRE doesn't measure my motivation but only assesses my skill in the most rational way there is...

Motivation is important however!

You don't want to go through painful 2-3 weeks only to lose steam and score even less. So if a faster/quicker war is better for you and you can't maintain the momentum for a few more weeks, then that may be best.

Keep in mind that studying all day long is NOT productive. You can probably pull off 3-4 hours a day max, so don't expect to retain/learn/gain much after 2x 2-hour sessions.

Good luck with your decision!

Thank you, BB. I agree. Motivation is certainly required. And I am motivated, even if I would have to study for 2 more weeks if I know that that would bring me closer to my goal. Besides the verbal section, I can make some progress in math I guess. I am not sure whether the next three days would be sufficient for that. So postponing would have some merit for sure. Do you think if you slow down for 6 days (ny trip), that your fitness in math suffers significantly?

I will let you know how I will decide later on. Thanks ;)

Re: GRE Reschedule 4 days before Retake of GRE [#permalink]
So I have come to a conclusion. I just did the math part of the second official practice test and scored only a 162, due to 6 mistakes (it is the late evening here in Europe, so my brain is not 100% fresh right now). Some questions were not sure shots and I didn't feel 100% comfortable solving them.

This gave me the thrust to reschedule my appointment and specifically review some parts of the theory as well as some exercise concepts. Also, the time during my trip will help me to relax and to regain some power after long months of applications and GRE practice.

By the way, you don't need to punish and torture yourself with tests, you can instead focus on the areas where you need help and focus on those rather than do full tests over and over... unless you are practicing timing and strategy.

Good to hear you have made the decision. Good luck executing the plan!

Hi Zamala,

What is the date of your rescheduled GRE? Do you need some advice on how to improve your quant skills?
