1. Do I need to revise the wrong questions from the diagnostic test?

You MUST review every single wrong question. every question. you learn from your mistakes. you learn way more from the wrong ones and why they are wrong or when you picked up wrong using a different approach and refine your way of thinking

2. How to understand why error was made in verbal section (except careless errors)? What criteria should be used?

This is a tough question. one way is when you pick up a wrong verbal question and then realize " oh yes was so obvious the word to insert or the answer to RC". At that point you should see why you got in the wrong path. Maybe a contrast word you overlooked, or a comma, or a colon. Looking also for the whole meaning. Before to jump into the official explanation of the question try to figure out the unfolding of the sentence or passage itself and why this leads you to the right choice.

3. How to determine what is the best habit to develop to address certain issues?

I believe the best strategy is to keep track of everything. or almost. take notes for example on a problem and which steps to follow to solve it. try to develop a strategy that is good for every type of that questions: for example in TC when you have a colon the sentence that comes after it always reinforce what come before, in the first part. This is a way to solve the issue of contrast words in the blank. In this kind of scenario for example if you have one blank in the first part and the second in the second part of the sentence or whatever they are positioned the two words must agree

4. How to keep track of mental process for verbal questions? (It is used as one of the advice to keep track of verbal errors. )

Hi tkorzhan,

Although I cannot give you an exact day-to-day study plan, I have some general advice for you on how to move forward with your prep.

Regarding improving your GRE skills, my biggest piece of advice is to ensure you are studying topically. In other words, be sure to focus on just ONE quant or verbal topic at a time and practice just that topic until you achieve mastery. If you can study that way, you will start seeing incremental improvement.

For example, let's say you are studying Number Properties. First, you'll need to learn all you can about that topic, and then practice only Number Property questions. After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, ask yourself why if you got a remainder question wrong. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GRE quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant and verbal topics.

Carcass, can you please provide feedback on my error log? Am I going in the right direction?
I also don't want to make it inefficient and track of unnecessary details.

Carcass, can you please help to clarify the following?
A) What link should I follow to find Verbal practice questions per area? For example, the following link presents theory for verbal section but there are no practice questions for each theory part?

B) If I made a conceptual error, what is the best approach to address it? For example, should I practice similiar questions, or just redo it in one week or both?
C) If I made technical error, is the best approach to practice this type of questions?

Great question sir. It is in the making a similar thing for verbal, what you are asking, of our GRE question banks topic-wise https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/gre-pr ... 34207.html

But a small trick could work for you:

Go to text completion section and search for example the questions one blank or two or three that start with the word although which is a contrast in the sentence indication such as this https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/althou ... 35121.html

At the bottom you have similar questions to practice.

This is the only possible way at the moment until I collect them

B) If I made a conceptual error, what is the best approach to address it? For example, should I practice similiar questions, or just redo it in one week or both?

Similar questions

C) If I made technical error, is the best approach to practice this type of questions?

what is an example of technical error ?

Carcass, thank you for your responses.
1. An example of technical error is when I did not follow the right technique to solve question. For example, I did not follow the right strategy to construct an equation.
2. What habits should be developed to identify partially out of scope answer choices? If I don't see partially out of scope answer choices, what skills should be developed to identify it?

Carcass, and ScottTargetTestPrep, when would you suggest to review error log. I found when I review incorrect questions right away, I am not fully engaged and mostly rely on the solution. Should I review incorrect questions from previous week the week after?

For TC and SE Verbal questions, I found that most of my mistakes are due to lack of knowledge of verbs. How TC and SE should be analyzed in the error log to make it meaningful?

How can I identify without fully understanding a meaning of the word whether words have positive or negative meaning?

Hi

maybe I am wrong but my feeling i that you are going a bit erratically.

Before making a possible attempt, the first thing to know is to have a good grasp of Standard English. You can memorize millions of words and incorporate them in your vocabulary but it is a waste of time if you do not know how to fully grasp the meaning of the sentence and what it is conveying.

a good grammar is essential

Quote:
How can I identify without fully understanding a meaning of the word whether words have positive or negative meaning?

The above statement brings a high risk of failure on the GRE

Carcass, thank you for being honest.
What is the right strategy to train myself to fully grasp a meaning of the sentence?

Should the above sentence be rephrased in the following way?
How can I identify without fully understanding a meaning of the word whether words have positive or negative meaning?--> How can I determine positive or negative tone of words without fully comprehending definitions of these words in the sentence?

Carcass, can you please advise how I should review incorrect TC and SE questions? I am doing questions from GRE official guide. So, I found it is challenging to record these questions in the error log so I can learn from mistakes and don't repeat them again.
