Answer given is D


But THE ANS should be C-

because

Area of Triangle DPC = 1/2(DC)*(BC)

Twice the Area of Triangle DQR = 2 *[1/2(DC/2)*(BC)] = [1/2(DC)*(BC)] = Area of Triangle DPC

Your analysis is perfect.
Both triangles have the same height, and the length of the base of ΔDPC is TWICE that of ΔDQR
So, the area of ΔDPC is TWICE the area of ΔDQR
So, of we DOUBLE the area of ΔDQR (quantity B), then the two quantities will be equal.

Answer: C

I'd also say answer C is correct.
The clue is to realize that, except from the base, the triangles are equal in height.
Given R as the midpoint, we know that triangle DPC must be twice as large as triangle DQR -> C is correct
