Explanation
Half of w is x= \(\frac{w}{2}=x\)
Half of y is w= \(\frac{y}{2}=w\)
\(w+x+y=28\)
Now plug into the equation: \(w+x+y=28\)
Substitute:
\(w+\frac{w}{2}+2w=28\)
\(w+0.5w+2w=3.5w=28\)
\(w=8\)
Answer: A
Half of w is x= \(\frac{w}{2}=x\)
Half of y is w= \(\frac{y}{2}=w\)
\(w+x+y=28\)
Now plug into the equation: \(w+x+y=28\)
Substitute:
\(w+\frac{w}{2}+2w=28\)
\(w+0.5w+2w=3.5w=28\)
\(w=8\)
