Lucid means clear. Do not be led astray by loquacious (talkative), which refers to speaking but does not describe one's diction. Lucrative is profitable and does not fit the context. For the second blank, propitious (favorable) suggests a positive outcome, in line with the context clue of "successful." Reparable describes something capable of being repaired, while strident labels something that has a harsh or grating sound or character. Neither fit the context. Lucid diction then corroborates or confirms the importance of reading aloud in children. It does not abolish (cancel) or satiate (satisfy) this importance.
