GIVEN: 12x + 2y is 80% of 5y
Rewrite as: 12x + 2y = (80/100)(5y)
Evaluate to get: 12x + 2y = 4y
Subtract 2y from both sides of the equation to get: 12x = 2y
Divide both sides by y to get: 12x/y = 2
Divide both sides by 12 to get: x/y = 2/12
Simplify: x/y = 1/6
Answer: A
