We are given
Y^2 = 100
Therfore,
Y = + 10 or -10
That is
2x + 1 = 10
2x = 9
x = 9/2
OR
2x + 1 = -10
2x = -11
x = -11/2
Correct Answer: Option A

Given
( 2x +1 )^2 = 100
2x + 1 = 10 or -10
So, x has to 2 different values.
2x +1 = 10
x = 9/2
or
2x + 1 = -10
2x = -11
x = -11/2.
Option A is our answer.
