If we directly substract the equ 2 from 1
5x – 8y = 11
(-) 4x – 9y = 4
we get x+y =7.

Given that 5x – 8y = 11 and 4x – 9y = 4 and we need to find the value of x + y
5x – 8y = 11
4x – 9y = 4
Subtracting \(2^{nd}\) equation from \(1^{st}\) one we get
5x – 8y - (4x – 9y) = 11 - 4 = 7
=> 5x - 4x - 8y + 9y = 7
=> x + y = 7
So, Answer will be E
