(A) 0.5 (B) 1.0 (C) 1.5 (D) 2.0 (E) 2.5
To find the median, first arrange the values in ASCENDING ORDER: {0, 2, 4, 5, 8, 11} Since the set has an EVEN number values, the median will be the average of the two middlemost numbers. So, median = (4 + 5)/2 = 9/2 =4.5
Mean = (sum of all values in the set)/(number of values in the set) = (0 + 4 + 5 + 2 + 11 + 8)/6 = 30/6 = 5
How much greater than the median of the numbers in S is the mean of the numbers in S? Median = 4.5 Mean = 5
The mean is 0.5 more than the median
